The teacher was fierce,
her look was scary,
we had no choice
but to listen intently.

The clock slowly tick away,
ever so slow.
My stomach was groaning with hunger,
and it was one more minute left, RECESS!

The aroma of fried rice
wafted into my nostrils,
and into my stomach it goes!

Back to class,
and study!
Droaning of teacher's voice,
and the unbearable heat in class.
BOREDOM!

At last the bell rung,
carried my bag,
and home sweet home!
The bag was heavier, much heavier,
with tons of homework in it.

Poetry

There is another sky by Emily Dickinson

There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields -
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!

This writer uses hyperbole method, like “another sky”, “another sunshine”, “ever serene and fair”, “leaves are ever green” and “unfading flowers”. All this words are sort of exaggerating and that is why it is hyperbole. The poet uses this method to write this poem because he or she wanted to invoke an emotion or a language to the reader.

I like this poem because I feel that I really can understand what the writer is trying to tell us. This also means that the poet has succeeded in his work. I always loved nature, and the poet wrote all the little things that he or she observed in nature though that may not be the point which he or she is trying to tell us. This poet also described the garden as if a heavenly place and all the sentence which she writes flows very naturally. Therefore, among all the poems, I like this poem most as it is short and sweet.

No Free Health Care in Singapore

“There is no free health care in Singapore.” Says Health Minister of Singapore.

As the medical fees are getting more expensive nowadays, citizen of Singapore are complaining for free health care in Singapore. However, the Health Minister of Singapore insists on no free health care in Singapore. He claims that if health care is going to be free, then the citizens of Singapore would not be aware of the importance of their own heath and would take their own health for granted.

I totally agree with his statement. Although countries like Australia might have free health care, it does not mean that their citizens would be like the Singaporeans. If one does not take care of their own health properly like they fight and when they play soccer they play in a very rough way, when they get very seriously injured until their injury is incurable, they would regret forever. Australians know the importance of their health. Therefore, Singaporeans must learn from them if they want to have free health in Singapore. However, I think that the Health Minister of Singapore should spare a thought for those who are poor. If they get sick, they would have no money to pay the medical fees. Therefore, I would suggest that the health minister of Singapore to give free health care to only those who are needy.

Increasing Numbers of Underage Drinking

Nowadays, more and more teenagers and adolescent are being caught for underage drinking. Why is this so? This is because those selling beer and alcohol does not care and does not bother to check if the people are below 18 years old although they know that this is against the law. They only cared if the teenagers could afford to pay the money for the beer. If the teenagers get drunk, they could get into brawls. Teenage girls that get drunk could also get raped or being physically bullied by other people. Therefore, I sat that this shopkeepers that sells beer and alcohol are being very irresponsible.

However, I am not blaming the entire fault on these shopkeepers. The teenagers have to be blamed too. These teenagers are surely aware that underage drinking is not allowed in Singapore. However, they still drink when they are underage. The reason behind this is simply because they did not study well and often failed their exams, therefore, they think that everything is over and drown their sorrow in beer and alcohol. Most people would think that their parents are at fault too. However, in most of the time, their parents do not know where they are going as they just say that they are going out with their friends. Let us go back to the topic again. Why are there an increasing amount of teenagers drinking when they are underage? In my opinion, I think that this is because the standard of the exams are getting harder and harder and thus, more teenagers are failing their exams and felt that they have no potential in studying and gave up.
