Ending("The lady, or the tiger?"by Frank R. Stockten)
Slowly, the man opened the door. Suddenly, the air seemed to tense up. The moment seemed like eternity. Perspiration dripped from the man's forehead, his back soaked with sweat. For a moment, everything seemed to pause. Everybody stared at the door and watched. Nothing seemed to come out. "Was that the silence before death or the..."the man thought out loud.
The princess had betrayed him. A huge tiger, almost thrice the size of him, stepped out of the metal cage. It bared its sharp fangs, and let out a loud roar. Not those skinny, young, weak and inexperience tiger but it was those that would send chill down an experience and armed hunter's spine. Its fur, or rather its coat, reflected light off its smooth skin under the blazing hot sun.
Without any warning, the tiger pounced. Swift and silent, the tiger arched its back and landed on the man's body, pinning the man to the ground. The man struggled for its life but to no avail. The tiger was too strong for him. It slashed at him with its sharp jaws and stood back for a moment.
The man tried to stand up, but he was too weak. Then, he collapsed to the ground with a loud "thud". He used his last ounce of strength to turn his head to look at the princess. Everything he saw was red. The princess stared at him with eyes so cold and hard. When the tiger finally did his fatal pounce, the man saw the princess turn her head away. However, he saw tears brimmed in the princess's eyes before total darkness. A man, a true man died in the evil hands of a princess.
